SUMMARY:Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier at Opernhaus Zürich (House Debut/Role Debut)
DESCRIPTION:Emily Pogorelc makes her role debut as Sophie in a brand-new production of Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier at Opernhaus Zürich. This beloved opera blends romance\, comedy\, and a touch of melancholy in a richly detailed world inspired by Rococo Vienna. \nThe story follows the Marschallin\, a noblewoman who gracefully lets go of her young lover Octavian as he falls in love with Sophie\, the spirited daughter of a rising bourgeois family. With its sweeping melodies and emotional depth\, Strauss’s score captures everything from lush grandeur to quiet heartbreak. \nThis new staging\, directed by Lydia Steier and brought to life through the striking aesthetic vision of Austrian artist Gottfried Helnwein\, promises a fresh and visually arresting take on the classic. \nJoining Emily on stage are Diana Damrau as the Marschallin\, Angela Brower as Octavian\, and Günther Groissböck as Baron Ochs. The production is conducted by Joana Mallwitz\, General Music Director of the Konzerthaus Berlin\, leading the acclaimed Orchester der Oper Zürich. \n\nTeam:\nConductor: Joana Mallwitz \nDirector: Lydia Steier \nChoreography: Tabatha McFadyen \nStage design: Gottfried Helnwein \nLight design: Elana Siberski \nVideo design: Tabea Rothfuchs \nDramaturgy: Kathrin Brunner \nOrchestra: Orchestre de l’Opéra de Zurich \nChorus: Chor der Oper Zürich \nChorus Master: Klaas-Jan de Groot \nChildren’s Chorus: Kinderchor der Oper Zürich \nCast:\nDie Feldmarschallin Fürstin Werdenberg: Diana Damrau \nDer Baron Ochs auf Lerchenau: Günther Groissböck \nOctavian: Angela Brower \nHerr von Faninal: Bo Skovhus \nSophie von Faninal: Emily Pogorelc \nJungfer Marianne Leitmetzerin: Christiane Kohl \nValzacchi: Nathan Haller \nAnnina: Irène Friedli \nDer Haushofmeister bei der Feldmarschallin: Johan Krogius \nDer Haushofmeister bei Faninal: TBA \nEin Italianischer Sänger: Omer Kobiljak \nEin Notar: Maximilian Bell \nEine Modistin: Rebeca Olvera \nEin Polizeikommissar: Stanislav Vorobyov \nEin Wirt: Johan Krogius

SUMMARY:Masters of the Waltz: Concert with Manfred Honeck and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to festivity and elegance in the world of music\, few names shine brighter than Johann Strauss II. This year marks the 200th anniversary of his birth – celebrated with a concert brimming with sparkling waltzes and whirling polkas. \nBut Johann Strauss II was not alone in putting the waltz on the map. The programme also features works by other masters of the genre – including Franz Lehár and Franz von Suppè. Making her Konserthuset debut is internationally acclaimed American soprano Emily Pogorelc\, performing operetta gems. A golden age in Vienna comes to life – almost like a Viennese New Year’s concert in the autumn darkness. \nFrivolous and superficial? Not quite – this music demands great care and finesse to truly soar. The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra is led by a connoisseur of the genre: Austrian conductor Manfred Honeck\, who grew up with these Viennese delicacies. His early years as a violist with the Vienna Philharmonic have deeply influenced his work as a conductor and his ability to uncover the music’s deeper layers. \nManfred Honeck conductor \nEmily Pogorelc soprano \nRoyal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

SUMMARY:Nannetta in Verdi's Falstaff at Wiener Staatsoper (House and Role Debut)
DESCRIPTION:Giuseppe Verdi’s final opera Falstaff is a sparkling comedy about love\, mischief\, and the art of outwitting a rogue. Based on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor\, this fast-paced and witty masterpiece follows the aging\, boastful Sir John Falstaff as he attempts to seduce two married women to restore his fortunes — only to find himself hilariously outsmarted at every turn. Full of lively ensembles\, quicksilver humor\, and some of Verdi’s most inventive music\, Falstaff celebrates life’s chaos and joy with a knowing wink: “Tutto nel mondo è burla” — “All the world’s a joke.” \nThis revival at the Wiener Staatsoper brings together a brilliant cast of international stars\, led by Ambrogio Maestri\, one of today’s most celebrated Falstaff interpreters. Emily Pogorelc makes her eagerly awaited house debut as the enchanting Nannetta. \nCast: \n\n\nSir John Falstaff – Ambrogio Maestri \n\n\nFord – Davide Luciano \n\n\nFenton – Iván Ayón Rivas \n\n\nAlice Ford – Ruzan Mantashyan \n\n\nNannetta – Emily Pogorelc \n\n\nMrs. Quickly – Monika Bohinec \n\n\nCreative Team: \n\n\nConductor – Pier Giorgio Morandi \n\n\nDirector and Lighting Design – Marco Arturo Marelli \n\n\nSet Design – Marco Arturo Marelli \n\n\nCostume Design – Dagmar Niefind \n\n\nDon’t miss this unforgettable night at the opera\, where laughter and lyrical brilliance take center stage!
