Under the musical direction of Gaetano d’Espinosa and the visionary staging by director Barbora Horáková, this production promises a profound artistic experience. The set design by Eva-Maria van Acker, costumes by Annemarie Bulla, lighting by Fabio Antoci, and choreography by Juanjo Arqués contribute to a visually stunning and emotionally gripping performance.

La Traviata, translated as “The Woman Who Strayed,” tells the poignant story of the Parisian courtesan Violetta Valéry. Verdi’s masterpiece, which scandalized audiences at its 1853 premiere, remains a timeless exploration of love, sacrifice, and societal judgment. This production, set in the dazzling world of 19th-century vaudeville, highlights the emotional depth and lyrical beauty of Violetta’s character.

Emily Pogorelc returns to Semperoper Dresden after her acclaimed debut as Amina in La sonnambula. Joining Bekhzod Davronov as Alfredo, critics have praised their chemistry in performances, remarking on their debut at the Metropolitan Opera, “…two debuts astonished in every way imaginable. As the couple of Lisette and Prunier, soprano Emily Pogorelc and tenor Bekhzod Davronov both filled the stage with a breath of fresh air… The chemistry between the two was also quite impressive.” (Francisco Salazar of Operawire)

Don’t miss this opportunity to witness Emily Pogorelc’s mesmerizing portrayal of Violetta Valéry in one of opera’s most beloved and tragic roles. Secure your tickets now for an unforgettable evening at Semperoper Dresden.
