Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff at Wiener Staatsoper (House and Role Debut)
November 14 @ 7:00 pm

Giuseppe Verdi’s final opera Falstaff is a sparkling comedy about love, mischief, and the art of outwitting a rogue. Based on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, this fast-paced and witty masterpiece follows the aging, boastful Sir John Falstaff as he attempts to seduce two married women to restore his fortunes — only to find himself hilariously outsmarted at every turn. Full of lively ensembles, quicksilver humor, and some of Verdi’s most inventive music, Falstaff celebrates life’s chaos and joy with a knowing wink: “Tutto nel mondo è burla” — “All the world’s a joke.”
This revival at the Wiener Staatsoper brings together a brilliant cast of international stars, led by Ambrogio Maestri, one of today’s most celebrated Falstaff interpreters. Emily Pogorelc makes her eagerly awaited house debut as the enchanting Nannetta.
