Emily Pogorelc returns to the Wiener Staatsoper as Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, following her appearance there as Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff last season. Otto Schenk’s beloved production — a cornerstone of the Vienna repertoire, staged with warmth, wit, and an abiding affection for Donizetti’s characters — provides the perfect frame for one of the composer’s most irresistible comedies. Pogorelc is joined by tenor Bogdan Volkov as Nemorino and bass-baritone Ambrogio Maestri as Dulcamara, one of the great interpreters of that role on the world stage, under the baton of conductor Leonardo Sini.
