Emily Pogorelc makes her Royal Opera House debut as Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte — also her role debut in the part — in a new production directed by Netia Jones, Associate Director of The Royal Opera, in her own Main Stage debut. Jones, renowned for her inventive use of digital media, reimagines Mozart’s comedy of manners through a sharply contemporary lens, where 18th-century romantic trickery collides with high-tech deceit: a production that finds new sting in a work that has been scandalising audiences since 1790. Thomas Hengelbrock conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

Pogorelc joins a stellar cast led by soprano Louise Alder as Fiordiligi, mezzo-soprano Simone McIntosh as Dorabella, tenor Mingjie Lei as Ferrando, baritone Huw Montague Rendall as Guglielmo, and bass-baritone Gerald Finley as Don Alfonso.
