“Boris Godunow” by Mussorgsky is an opera that tells the story of the rise of Boris Godunov to the Russian throne and the political and personal challenges he faces. Ildar Abdrazakov will star as the title role in the Munich Festspiele production, with Vasily Petrenko conducting. Themes of power, responsibility, and the consequences of one’s actions are explored in the opera. Making her role debut in the production is the soprano Emily Pogorelc as Xenia. The opera promises to be a dramatic and thrilling performance.
