mily Pogorelc makes her debut with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, the Groot Omroepkoor, and Utrecht’s TivoliVredenburg, joining conductor Edward Gardner for an evening of Rossini’s Stabat Mater — a work that transforms the medieval prayer for the grieving Virgin Mary into something closer to lyric opera, with soaring vocal writing that sits at the intersection of devotion and drama. The concert, part of the AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert series, is broadcast live on NPO Klassiek radio and streamed online. It is programmed alongside Busoni’s Berceuse élégiaque and Strauss’s Tod und Verklärung, placing Rossini’s luminous score in an evening-long meditation on mourning and transcendence.

Pogorelc is joined by mezzo-soprano Ekaterine Buachidze, tenor Edgardo Rocha, and bass Giorgi Manoshvili.
